Max’s Lemon Tale

“Growing up, my two brothers and I were raised by a single mother. I was fortunate enough to have a mother that loved us very much, provided what we needed, and raised us boys on how to be men who followed their dreams.

In 2010 my mother passed away suddenly a few days after my high school graduation. I severely struggled with my relationship with God as I was mourning her loss. I truly believe the Lord was teaching me a lot about grace and having appreciation for the people in my life. Somehow my dad found me on Facebook and reached out asking if we could meet up and have dinner together. My heart was immediately filled with anger and I struggled with finding forgiveness for him. Shortly after my dad reaching out I agreed to have dinner with him and was ready to lay it on him. I had all these things ready to say to him. As soon as I stepped out of the car and saw him for the first time, I felt this overwhelming sense of peace and the Lord clearly spoke to me saying “you need to let go, and you need to forgive him”. In that moment all of my anger left me. All of my remorse towards my father had left me. After all, who am I to turn away a father after losing a mother? Looking back, It seemed like the Lord was really paving a way for something I didn’t know I needed.

13 years later, my dad and I have a great relationship. He was able to be there for me in many moments of need, he’s been there to see me get married, and I’ve gained another brother and mother to share my life with through it all.”
