Our Fireplace Mantel
Max found this fireplace mantle for $20 on Facebook Marketplace! It wasn’t exactly how we wanted it to look but we knew we could make it look right for our home with a little TLC.
At first we wanted to sand the wood down so that it could be a lighter wood. We were going for old world, vintage fireplace. However, once we started we quickly found out it was not all wood.
Not wood? No problem. We grabbed our paint brushes and Fusion Mineral Paint in the color Chateau. For the top, we needed it to be shorter and not as wide or it wouldn’t fit on the wall in our room.
After removing some nails we were able to get it dislodged and separated. Voila! It would now fit our space.
Here you can see I added some shiplap to the back of the fireplace so that it would look complete! I pulled out a nail gun and attached it to the back of the framing. It was much harder doing it by myself but we made it happen.
Now it adds a great touch to our bedroom and it looks great with our house.
