Our Fall 2023 Living Room

Now that we’re in the “ber” months I’ve pulled out all the dried florals, pumpkins, chunky knit blankets, and anything that’s remotely red, yellow, or orange. For us, September 1-October 31st is for Fall Decor, and November 1st-December 31st is for Christmas. Then the Christmas tree gets put away on January 1 and we restyle for Winter (removing all Christmas-themed items) until Spring time arrives in March.

This year I’m especially loving our new wonky-shaped pumpkins! I don’t have many but these small white smooshed pumpkins have such a realistic and cozy feeling. Even our Anthropologie mug from a few Winters ago easily fits into this setup on the coffee table.

To keep this transition in the season simple but impactful, I swapped out pillow covers, brought in more blankets, candles, and the biggest change was the corner to the right of our TV. Normally we have a vibrant tall olive tree there but it felt too colorfully clashing with the rest of what I had going on. Here, I decided to bring in some other items and try a new arrangement. The fun part about styling is how it’s easy to rearrange and try something new for a little while. Even easier than changing out a paint color!

Nothing makes a space cozier than the candle you have burning. For me, Katie Cloud Home candles have been my go-to for the last 5 years. They’re hand poured, soy wax, made with essential oils, and have a significant burn time. Depending on the candle size they can burn for 50-100 hours. The amber jar above burns for 60 hours and fills my entire living space with the smell of, “…fresh pumpkin, mouthwatering notes of brown sugar, molasses, and spices complete this irresistible bakery fragrance.” In my opinion, if you’re going to buy a fall candle anyway, why not support a small business? Especially when the product is far superior to what you can get at a big box store.
